It started in Lissabon probably the most beautiful town in Europe. We as innervisions are doing a kind of residency there from now on at the famous Lux Club which includes 4 nights per year in different cast. Rui Vargas the resident there and a very good friend of us came up with this idea. He is a great dj and head of programming without him Portugal wont be a housenation like it is. Lux Fragil has a great architecture outside and inside too.

Time goes by and the amount of records at home has been seriously increased, it reached the point that i even got into trouble with my wife. But there is a good and a bad side of liking so many different type of music.
In Clubmusic we suffer from an oversupply of releases. But on the other hand a lot of different genres are not really well represented. Thats why i want to focus today on records aside the dancefloor. You might have realised some of our other preferences if you visited a clubnight with us recently.

There have been a couple of revivals from that decade in the last years, but most of the times it had been just a very sketchy one. Like I said with “Les Disques du Crepuscule ” it had been one of the most creative moments for popmusic. Dadaism, Performance Art and Minimalism found their way into the mainstream and the subculture was very spirited, too. Nowadays there are a couple of very passionated fans who are reclaiming these vivant undergound. Some years ago i stumbled across the great compilation “Lost Tapes – A Compilation of European Minimal Wave from ‘81-’86 ” at the rushour recordstore in amsterdam.

As i am not being a big fan of posting charts our admin really had to use all tricks to convince me to do this. It is a bit the same like posting dj mixes from clubs in the internet as i think there should be some myth left in what music a dj is playing and there should be a uniqueness in the moment to attend a certain clubnight. Anyway here are some current favourites of mine: More … »

For a lot of people the 80ies had been the most creative period in popmusic. A lot of things were possible and borders had been teared down. The belgian label ” Les Disques du Crepuscule ” was at the forefront of the interface between music and art. Benoit Hennebert the famous illustrator was responsible the visual appearance and Michel Duval and Annick Honore for the artistic programation. Lately we travelled to Duesseldorf to see the big Sonic Youth exhibition. On the next day we went to cologne to visit a couple of galleries and only by accident we passed by the “Koelnischer Kunstverein”. From outside we could see the logo from the label so we went in and actually we dicovered one of the best music related exhibitions we have ever seen.

Hello everybody!
Proudly we can announce the arrival from our scarfs we did in co-operation with Slam Jam and Matzu. We took six motives out of the matzu pictures inside the Tokyo Black Star Cd and made some nice silk scarfs out of it. Our friends from Slam Jam did a great job and soon they will be available in our webshop.
Alex played on an instore gig at the Slam Jam Shop in Milano and you can find some great pictures from that event on the Slam Jam Blog.

Check out their website and their blog, cause they are very interesting guys coming form the original Cosmic Disco Scene back in the days and they have a great approach to music and design in general.

Slow to Speak is a record label run by Paul Nickerson and Franics Engelhardt out of NYC. They are also running the great record store called Dope Jams. If you are in New York you should take the sub to Brooklyn to visit their shop. It is a very special place with a very spiritual atmosphere inside. This sounds wack for you? Then you probably dont have any heart or passion for the music.
Besides the label Slow to speak there also exist the sublabels Gay Records,Feed.back and Celebrate Life, where they do strictly limited represses from popular rock and pop artists. I become an addicted collector from this series and its not easy to get them in europe. My favourite one is definitely the Siouxsie & the Banshees record.

Over the last years we became really good friends with the people behind the famous Club11 in Amsterdam. We played there regulary in different combinations and some of the nights were pretty memorable. I even invited the guys to Germany to stay at my home for a couple of days but they never accepted the offer till today.
After the phenomenal closing in june they left a big gap in the nightlife of the town. Now they found a new location in the centre of the city and they will open probably at the end of february. Olaf and Daan will do the job and during my last visit at the end of december they showed me the venue. It is the building from an old newspaper, but the building was empty for a while now.

There is a big connection between art and music, but rarely it happens that the result is really satisfying. There are a few examples, which prove that it is possible like Carsten Nikolai,Steve Reich,Ryuichi Sakamoto or in this case Michaela Melian. She became one of my favourite German Artists over the last years. I first discovered her through her Art by visiting an exhibition curated by a friend of Mine. I walked into her Installation and i was fascinated from the first moment. It was a loopy dia projection accompanied with some great music which reminded me to the slo mo house beats from Theo Parrish combined with a touch of Steve Reich. I went straight home and bought her first album called ” Baden Baden ”
