Everyone is talking about the big house revival, but the most surprising and exciting new housestuff is coming from labels who made their names with total different music.
The first one is Musik Krause from Jena. The Label from the infamous Wighnomy Brothers is always good for a suprise and challenging new material. This time Portable from Capetown is responsible for the newest release.Following his great release on Perlon Mr Abrahams even topped it with that record.
Killer record and the Musik Krause Crew deserves a big applause in confusing the gridlocked fans from their old records.Big up to Spatz,Veiter,Sören aka Monkey Mafia,Wendelin aka Metaboman and Carlsson from the Krause Duo!!!! More … »
Good Evening, everybody. (I still hope you are still out there)
Today was a shitty day. But I don’t want to waste your time whining, moaning and being grumpy, because whining is for the majors.
This friend of mine sent me a link to two nice geek products. One is a star wars stormtrooper hoodie. I briefly considered to buy one of these, although I’m usually not into hoodies, but the hood is an identity-protecting mask and that just rocks ! especially if you have to avoid people on your way to work. The second is a hoodie with a built in beer holding pouch. How handy is that ! imagine you’re in a bloody packed club and just bought two beers to survive the mess that surrounds you. You can store one beer in the pouch and hold the other in your hand. (just like the post suggests).
ON my recent Trip to Tokyo i did heavy Recordshopping again:-)
Even in Tokyo some big stores like Manhattan Records or Cisco closed during the last year, but on the other hand small great and specialized shops like Lighthouse Records opened.
Thats the new Book from one of best contemporary german writing author Christian Kracht. I don’t think its already translated into english but keep your eyes opened. More … »
A friend of mine (thanks, Matt!) just sent me an email to keep an eye on Felix Thorn, a 33 year old artist from London who does experiments with computer controlled mechanical instruments. His current work can be seen at the Gasworks Studios in London (I definitely need to go there!).
When connected to a computer, Felix’s Machines translate Thorn’s compositions into mechanical actions performed by customised drums and piano parts and animated by solenoids, springs and motors. In this way, an electronic means of production is transposed into an acoustic output. Each element of the machine has its own light emitting diode (LED). In the darkened space of the gallery,
this creates an arrangement of coloured projections illuminating the sound source and synchronised with the music.
You should also watch this video on youtube to get an idea of that impressive work!
For those (Germans) of you who don’t have it yet (like me …): Finally available is the portrait of Arthur Russell called “Wild Combination”. I just found mine in the mailbox and I’m so looking forward to watch it this weekend. It’s a total MUST for everyone interested in electronic music! Here is the Amazon link …
I just discovered that a movie about synthesizer pioneer Bob Moog seams to be available on iTunes (unfortunatelly not for us Germans …). But there is a little snippet on YouTube. Hopefully we’ll see the whole movie some day also in Germany. Just listen to the music at the beginning. It’s stunning how beautiful just these little tones are …
Good Morning, everybody (if there’s anybody out there reading this !)
My name is Matthias Bohmbach, I work for Innervisions. Somehow I thought it might be more or less interesting to tell the world what a casual day is like here at Innervisions. Personally, I think this kind of stuff might always be perceived as ego-tripping or selfish psyche masturbation, because usually you focus on yourself and your doings, rather then be mindful of your surrounding and behave like every other reasonable, responsible human (whatever that is in these days). So you end up being what we call nowadays: a nerd.
